In 1985, Motz Nursery began as a labor of love after Dad (George), lost his orchard.  After he replaced his orchard, he decided to start his tree nursery. George’s passion for trees took him from his Balsam Lake farm to towns all over the state with a truck full of trees and many stories to tell. Meeting wonderful people and sharing his knowledge of trees was one of his favorite things. He absolutely loved talking to everyone he met. When George passed away in 2010, Karry and I chose to keep the nursery going, and it’s been an incredible journey ever since. Over the past 15 years, we’ve made so many friends and shared countless memories.

 

That’s why it’s hard to share that 2025 was our last year with the nursery.  We will still sell our remaining trees (approximately 40 potted trees) this spring, but when they are gone, we will be done.

 

Forty years feels like a meaningful milestone! It’s amazing to think how long Motz Nursery has been part of our lives.
